The GIPS Helpdesk at gips@cfainstitute.org operates as the sole contact for information regarding the GIPS standards. The GIPS Helpdesk functions in capacities such as the following:

  • Addressing technical questions on the application and interpretation of the provisions of the GIPS standards
  • Receiving comment letters on proposals
  • Subscribing to the bimonthly e-mails on the Standards
  • Ordering hard copies of the GIPS standards
  • Requesting general information about the Standards

 

Technical Questions

The Helpdesk operates as the contact for technical questions on the application and interpretation of the provisions of the GIPS standards. The Helpdesk responds to over 200 inquiries a month regarding the GIPS standards. 

 

The GIPS Helpdesk is an advisory service only. The Helpdesk does not review, verify, confirm, or endorse a firm’s calculations or the manner in which the firm applies the GIPS standards in specific situations. 

 

Comment Letters

The Helpdesk asks for feedback on proposals: Will the proposal achieve the established goals, how much implementation might cost, if other conflicts might cause problems, and if you agree with what we have proposed. We seek comments from the industry at large, including regulators, standard setters, firms, and other industry groups. All comments are compiled and reviewed by the responsible committee for possible incorporation into the Standards, if deemed applicable, and posted on this site. 

 

All comments and replies will be put on the public record unless it is specifically requested not to. It is preferable that comments be submitted in electronic form with settings that do not restrict the ability to ‘cut-and-paste’ text from the comment letter. Comments are also accepted in hardcopy and should be addressed to:

Bimonthly E-mail Service

The bimonthly e-mail service details current events relating to the GIPS standards. If you are interested in subscribing to the e-mail alert list, please write to the GIPS Helpdesk and enter “Standards E-mail Alert” in the subject heading, with your name, postal address, and e-mail address in the body of your message. 

 

Hard Copies of the Standards

For hard copies of the Global Investment Performance Standards, please e-mail gips@cfainstitute.org. When requesting copies of one hundred or more, there is a charge of $1.00 (U.S.) per booklet.
