CFA Institute Announces New Appointments to GIPS Executive Committee
CFA Institute has announced the appointment of three new members to the GIPS Executive Committee (EC): Louis Boulanger as chair of the GIPS Council, Iain McAra as chair of the GIPS Investment Manager Subcommittee, and Dmitri Senik as chair of Europe, Middle East, and Africa Regional Investment Performance Subcommittee (EMEA RIPS).

The nine-member GIPS Executive Committee is composed of a diverse group of investment professionals who develop and promote the adoption and implementation of the GIPS standards as the single, global standard for calculating and presenting investment performance. The new members will begin their terms in September, replacing outgoing members Stefan Illmer, Sunette Mulder, and Neil Riddles, CFA, CIPM. See the announcement press release on the GIPS website.

Save the Date: 2010 GIPS Annual Conference in San Francisco
The GIPS Standards Annual Conference is scheduled for 29-30 September 2010 in San Francisco. Last year’s conference sold out and space is limited, so register early. This year’s conference will cover key topics in the performance measurement industry as well as a key elements of the 2010 edition of the GIPS standards.    

A GIPS Standards Interactive Workshop precedes the annual conference and is scheduled for 28 September 2010 in San Francisco. The workshop will help participants master the requirements of the GIPS standards, including composite construction, performance calculation, and the creation of a compliant presentation. In order to help you get prepared for 2011, this workshop will specifically include interactive discussion about the 2010 edition of the GIPS standards. Learn how your firm might be impacted and what the changes might mean for compliance.

New Q&As Posted on the GIPS Website
Ten new Q&A’s have been added to our database providing additional guidance on Verification and Cash Flows. Firms are reminded that compliance with the GIPS standards also includes adherence to all Q&A’s and other guidance. The new Q&A’s can be found by searching the GIPS Q&A database by performing a search for category “Verification” for entries updated in or after May 2010 and a search for category “Cash Flows” for entries updated in or after June 2010.
