GIPS 2010 Exposure Draft

View the GIPS 2010 Exposure Draft now and submit your comments. The public comment period ends on 1 July 2009. The GIPS Executive Committee will review all comments to determine changes that will be incorporated in the 2010 GIPS standards. The 2010 version of the GIPS standards will be published in early 2010, with an effective date of 1 January 2011.

New Q&As Posted on the GIPS Website
Six new Q&As have been added to our database. These Q&As address issues uncovered by the recent global financial crisis and such topics as default, bankruptcy, illiquidity, securities lending, frozen custodial accounts, and money market investments. They can be found by searching the GIPS Q&A database for a key word or all entries updated on or after June 2009. Firms are reminded that compliance with the GIPS standards also includes adherence to all Q&As and other guidance.

 

Election of the Asia Pacific RIPS Chair
Trevor Persaud has been elected to Chair the Asia Pacific Regional Investment Performance Subcommittee (Asia Pacific RIPS) and serve on the GIPS Executive Committee. Mr. Persaud is Director, Head of Investment Risk Oversight and Performance Analysis at Prudential Asset Management Singapore and has over 15 years of experience in performance measurement, evaluation, and risk.

 

New Chair of the Investor/Consultant Subcommittee
CFA Institute Board has appointed Colin Morrison to chair the Investor/Consultant Subcommittee and serve on the GIPS EC. Mr. Morrison is the owner of Paradigm Investment Consulting Limited in Scotland and has a total of 23 years experience in the measurement and evaluation of performance and risk including five previous roles as (Global) Head of Performance and Risk.

Save the Date: 2009 GIPS Annual Conference in Boston
The GIPS Standards Annual Conference is scheduled for 22-23 September 2009 in Boston. Last year’s conference sold out and space is limited, so register early. This year’s conference will cover key topics in the performance measurement industry as well as a preview and implications of the proposed changes to the Standards.  

 

A GIPS Standards Interactive Workshop precedes the annual conference and is scheduled for 21 September 2009 in Boston. The workshop will help participants master the requirements of the GIPS standards, including composite construction, performance calculation, and the creation of a compliant presentation. In order to help you get prepared for 2011, this workshop will specifically include interactive discussion about the proposed changes. Learn how your firm might be impacted and what the proposed changes might mean for compliance.
