Q & A Database
The GIPS Standards Q&A database contains questions and answers (Q&As) on various searchable topics that provide additional interpretation on an issue. Q&As are considered to be authoritative guidance and must be followed in order to claim compliance with the GIPS standards.
Content from prior Q&As was included in the GIPS Standards Handbook as much as possible and many Q&As were archived. Change the Status drop-down filter to "Archived" to see the archived Q&As.
The GIPS Standards Helpdesk is available for individual questions and typically responds to inquiries within 3 business days.

With respect to the requirement that GIPS-compliant firms must notify CFA Institute of their claim of compliance with the GIPS standards, will the following circumstances change either the reporting end date of the notification information provided or the date the submission should be made?
The firm’s verification period end is not the calendar year-end but another date, such as the end of March
The verification period is less than 1 year due to firm inception
The information provided must be as of the calendar year end 31 December, with the exception of firm contact information which must be current as of the notification submission date. Firms must complete their notification process annually by 30 June. Whether a verification has been performed, and the period of any verification performed, would not impact the notification submission date or the date as of which the information is provided.
