The GIPS Standards Q&A database contains questions and answers (Q&As) on various searchable topics that provide additional interpretation on an issue. Q&As are considered to be authoritative guidance and must be followed in order to claim compliance with the GIPS standards.

Content from prior Q&As was included in the GIPS Standards Handbook as much as possible and many Q&As were archived. Change the Status drop-down filter to "Archived" to see the archived Q&As.

    Do we have to keep trade tickets in order to meet the recordkeeping requirements of the GIPS standards?

    The determination of which records are necessary to support the performance record is left up to the firm. In certain cases, the trade tickets may prove to be a useful resource to capture and maintain some of the data needed to support the performance record. In other cases, this data may be captured elsewhere. Since records capturing duplicate information are not necessary, the firm must make the determination of which records to maintain.
