In the 2010 edition of the GIPS standards, what is the effective date for the verification procedures in Chapter IV?

The effective date of the 2010 edition of the GIPS standards is 1 January 2011. Verifiers must conduct their verification engagements in accordance with the 2010 edition of the GIPS standards as detailed in Chapter IV for all verifications that have a contract date of 1 January 2011 or after, or prior to 1 January 2011 if the investment management firm has adopted the 2010 edition earlier. The contract date is typically evidenced by the date of the engagement letter signed by management of both the verification firm and the investment management firm. Verifiers may also voluntarily conduct their verification engagements in accordance with the 2010 edition of the GIPS standards prior to 1 January 2011, and are encouraged to do so.
